In its release to the press, the White House stated "Jorge Muoz recognizes that we all have a stake in one another. By giving his time, energy, and resources to feeding the hungry, he has demonstrated the enduring American values of sacrifice and kindness. Muoz receives the Citizens Medal for his service and dedication to creating a more hopeful tomorrow for the less fortunate among us." For 40 years, the Presidential Citizens Medal has recognized Americans who have performed exemplary deeds of service for their country or their fellow citizens.
