David Cameron, Prime Minister Photo - Supporters of the English Defence League (EDL), a two-year-old a group described as a far-right street protest movement who are against Muslim extremism, march through the streets of Luton, some wearing skull masks and carrying St George's Cross flags. According to reports some 1500 EDL supporters were in Luton while the counter group Unite Against Fascism held an opposing demonstration on the same day. However, according to reports the marches were relatively peaceful presumably due to the presents of police and security measures, the cost of which reportedly ran up to $1.2 million. Reports have suggested that because police had notified residents and business owners earlier of possible disruption many people avoided the area. Meanwhile the British Prime Minister David Cameron addressed the issues of radicalism and the causes of terrorism at the 47th Munich Security Conference in Germany saying, 'Someone can be a devout Muslim and not be an extremist. We need to be clear: Islamist extremism and Islam are not the same thing.' Cameron also reportedly noted multiculturalism has failed and said, 'Frankly, we need a lot less of the passive tolerance of recent years and much more active, muscular liberalism.'
