Ben Jelen Photo - Ben Jelen (pronounced Yellin), a young composer and musician, performs at AOL Summer Concert Series. Jelen's, debut album, 'GIVE IT ALL AWAY,' presents a series of songs that combine passionate vocals with lush instrumentation and upbeat flourishes. In his own words about the album, Jelen reveals -- "I don't write just one type of song. I write what I see, do, and feel. The blood boiling when you're angry, your pulse racing when you're excited that's what's important. When I feel like that, the song already exists in my mind and I just start writing." As a kid, Ben Jelen often moved with his family between England, Texas , Scotland , New Jersey and New York. He switched schools so often that Jelen never had a chance to form his own band. That's why Jelen practiced piano, guitar and violin preparing himself for solo career. Ben's songs reflected a nomadic upbringing, a hand-to-mouth existence in New York City , and a free-spirited approach to life. NEW YORK, JUNE 29, 2004.
