Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann have added baby number three to their brood. A mere six months ago, the couple adopted Amaya Josephine. They welcomed Andrew Nicolas Hargitay Herman into the family this week. Andrew was born on August 5, a preemie born a few months early.
Mariska and Peter’s eldest son, August (not to be confused with the month his new brother was born), is five years old and has been known to visit the “Law & Order: SVU” set to see his mom.
Late last month, Mariska endowed the Mariska Hargitay Scholarship for Acting Students with a gift of $100,000. The scholarship, to be awarded on need and merit, is available for students at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film & Television.
The 13th season of “Law & Order: SVU” started a few weeks ago with some big changes. Mariska’s character Olivia Benson has lost her long-time partner, Elliot Stabler, and a couple new detectives (Danny Pino as Nick Amaro & Kelli Giddish as Amanda Rollins) have been added to the cast. A trademark L&O “ripped from the headlines” episode started off the season.
Mariska is the daughter of the Mickey Hargitay and Jayne Mansfield. She married Peter on August 28, 2004. She is one of the top five highest-paid television actresses earning close to $400,000 per episode. She founded the Joyful Heart Foundation in 2004 to aide victims of sexual assault, child abuse and domestic violence.
